The chauffeur's tip
The riverside road on the Right Bank has been closed to cars since 2016, so a tour cannot follow the Seine from the Marais to the Eiffel Tower the way a map suggests. The route runs on the upper quays instead, which costs a few minutes but opens an angle where the Conciergerie and Pont Neuf line up. Ask for a morning stop if photography is part of your plans; the light changes with the season.
Montmartre is the other place where the map lies. Rue Lepic and the top of the Butte have one-way sections and restricted access, so do not assume a drop-off on Place du Tertre. A permitted drop near the foot of the funicular or on Rue Caulaincourt may suit your visit, depending on access and which side you want to walk down. A chauffeur who knows the hill picks the side, not the address.
