Parc Astérix from Paris: shuttle, car or chauffeur?

By PrivateDrive

Key takeaway

Parc Astérix from Paris: the €14 shuttle leaves from CDG, not Paris. RER B, car, or a chauffeur with child seats, and the 1 a.m. late-night return.

Parc Astérix sits in Plailly, in the Oise, about 43 km from Place de la Concorde up the A1. It has its own motorway exit and its own shuttle, and that is where most families go wrong: the shuttle does not leave from Paris. Here are the four ways to get there, what each really costs a family, and the case where it all comes down to the wire: getting home from a Halloween late opening at 1 a.m.

The short answer

OptionWhat it costsWhat to know
RER B, then the official shuttle€14 RER fare per person each way, plus €14 return shuttle per person, free under 3Two changes, no child seat; at night, the night RER B
Your own carFuel, tolls, €25 parking for the dayDoor to door with your own seats; at night, you drive
PrivateDrive chauffeurAround €180 each way in an E-Class, €225 in a V-Class, from central ParisDoor to door, seats fitted on request, ride home at the time you set

For two adults with no children, train and shuttle win by a distance. The chauffeur becomes the right sum once you add small children, a stroller, a hotel far from an RER B station, or leaving the park after midnight.

The official shuttle leaves from the airport, not from Paris

The park's shuttle leaves from the Roissypôle bus station, bay A3, at Charles de Gaulle airport. You reach it on the RER B, station Aéroport Charles-de-Gaulle 1, then go to the "Parc Astérix" counter at the bus information desk. The ticket costs €14 return, free for children under 3. It must be booked the day before at the latest and validated at the counter before boarding.

Departures run every 15 to 30 minutes, from an hour before the park opens until an hour after it closes, for a ride of about 25 minutes. The park warns that service may pause between 1:00 and 3:30 p.m. depending on crowds: worth checking if you planned an early-afternoon arrival.

From Paris the trip therefore has three legs: the RER B to CDG, the walk to bay A3 and the wait, then the shuttle. The RER ticket to the airport costs €14 per person each way. For a family of four, two adults and two children over 3, the RER and shuttle round trip quickly passes €150 at full fare, before anyone has bought a park ticket. Reduced fares and Navigo passes bring it down, so run the sum with your own tickets.

What changed in 2026

The RoissyBus from Opéra to the airport stopped running on 1 March 2026. Île-de-France Mobilités now points travellers to the RER B and to express line 9517, which runs from Argenteuil to Roissypôle via Saint-Denis Pleyel. For an adult travelling light, that is one more cheap option. With a stroller, it is one more change.

By car: the park's own exit on the A1

Take the A1 towards Lille: the park exit sits between junctions 7 and 8. The park quotes about thirty minutes from Porte de la Chapelle. From central Paris, Google puts it just under 50 minutes on a quiet day, and the A1 can double that on a Friday evening or a Sunday at the end of a weekend. Parking costs €25 for the day.

For a family that already has a car and its own child seats, this is the most flexible option by day. Its limit shows in the evening: after ten hours in the park, a parent is the one driving back down the motorway.

With a chauffeur: door to door for families

A private chauffeur in Paris collects the family at the hotel or apartment door and drops you at the park entrance, with no changes. Infant carriers, child seats and boosters are provided on request: state each child's age and weight at booking. The stroller goes in the boot.

From central Paris the trip costs around €180 in an E-Class, for three passengers and two suitcases, and €225 in a V-Class, for up to seven passengers and the stroller. The exact fare depends on the pickup address and the time, and the booking engine shows it, fixed, before you pay. A ride that starts between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. carries a 10% night surcharge.

For a day at the park, two one-way trips, one in the morning and one at going-home time, almost always cost less than hourly hire: the chauffeur does not sit in a car park for seven hours on your bill.

Peur sur le Parc: getting home at 1 a.m.

Until 8 November 2026 the park runs on Peur sur le Parc time, its Halloween event, which opened on 3 October. On late-opening nights it closes at 1 a.m.: in 2026 that means 28, 29, 30 and 31 October, then 7 November. The park says most of these late nights are sold out, so if you hold tickets, sort out the trip home before you set off.

The shuttle runs until an hour after closing. The problem comes next: the night RER B back into Paris with sleeping children in your arms, or teenagers you would rather not leave alone on the line at 2 a.m. This is the evening when a ride booked for a fixed time changes everything: you stay for the last show, and the car is waiting at the exit with the child seats already fitted.

The same logic holds for the Noël Gaulois Christmas season, from 19 December 2026 to 3 January 2027: it gets dark early, it is cold, and the youngest are asleep before the car park.

Landing at CDG on the day

The park is 18 km from Terminal 2E, about fifteen minutes by road: closer to the airport than to Paris. A family landing in the morning can go straight there. The official shuttle leaves from Roissypôle if you travel light. With suitcases, a chauffeur meets you in arrivals, as on any Paris airport transfer, drops you at the park and takes you to your hotel in the evening: one plan, no changes with luggage.

If you are weighing it against the region's other big park, the same reasoning applies at Marne-la-Vallée: see our comparison of transfers between CDG and Disneyland Paris.

Which option suits which family?

  • Adult couple or friends, budget first: RER B and shuttle, no question.
  • Family with a car, day visit: your car and the €25 car park, leaving before the morning rush.
  • Children under 10, no car: the chauffeur with seats fitted. Weigh the extra cost against two changes with a stroller each way. For the youngest, our guide to travelling with a baby and an infant car seat covers what French law requires in a car.
  • Late-opening night: a ride home booked for a fixed time, or the car if one adult is happy to drive after midnight.
  • Landing at CDG the same day: the shuttle if you travel light, the chauffeur if you go park then hotel with your bags.

Parc Astérix also earns its place on the family side of our ranking of the best day trips from Paris.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a direct shuttle from Paris to Parc Astérix?

Not the official one: it leaves from the Roissypôle bus station, bay A3, at Charles de Gaulle airport. From Paris you first take the RER B to the Aéroport Charles-de-Gaulle 1 station. It costs €14 return and must be booked the day before at the latest.

How long does it take by car from Paris?

The park quotes about thirty minutes from Porte de la Chapelle on the A1. From central Paris, allow just under 50 minutes on a quiet day and longer at rush hour. From CDG airport, about fifteen minutes.

How much does a chauffeur to Parc Astérix cost?

From central Paris, around €180 each way in an E-Class and €225 in a V-Class, a fixed fare shown by the booking engine for your address and time. Between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. the ride carries a 10% surcharge. For a day at the park, two one-way trips usually cost less than hourly hire.

Are child seats provided?

With PrivateDrive, yes, provided on request: state each child's age and weight when you book. Neither the RER nor the shuttle provides them. In a car in France, a child under 10 must travel in a restraint suited to their height and weight.

How do I get home after a Peur sur le Parc late night?

The park closes at 1 a.m. on those nights and the shuttle runs until an hour after closing, but the night RER B still follows. With children, the simplest answer is a ride home booked in advance, for the exit time you choose.
