On Friday, September 25, 2026, the Île de la Cité is closed to traffic from 6 am to 8 pm. Pope Leo XIV is visiting Paris and Saint-Denis on September 25 and 26, and the Préfecture de police published the perimeters on September 9. Four days later, on Tuesday the 29th, a rail strike call lands on the second day of Paris Fashion Week.
Two different days, one question: where can the car actually stop, and what will it cost? Times are Paris time, checked against official notices on September 21, 2026.
What to do, in five lines
- Friday 25: count Notre-Dame and the Île de la Cité, the Saint-Michel side of the Left Bank, place de la Concorde and the lower Champs-Élysées as out of reach by car all day.
- Hotel in one of those sectors: reception first, then us, to fix a meeting point. A chauffeur obeys the same closures as a taxi.
- Stade de France vigil: agree the pickup point for the ride back before you go in, and bring no suitcase.
- Tuesday 29: check your train by its number the evening before, and book the car early: Fashion Week started on Monday.
- Price: set by the ride's date and hour, shown before you pay, locked at confirmation.

The Élysée and Concorde details come from the 8th arrondissement town hall, UNESCO from the 7th, the rest from the Préfecture. The metro follows the same map: Varenne, Ségur, École Militaire, Saint-François-Xavier and Duroc close from noon to 6 pm, and six stations in the Champs-Élysées area, Concorde included, from Friday 10 pm to Saturday 8 pm.
The organisers say it plainly: taxis and chauffeur-driven cars are subject to the same restrictions and will not necessarily get you close to the sites. Our own calculation on Google Directions, run on September 21: from the 9th arrondissement to the A6 late on Friday afternoon, the car circles the centre by the ring road, 111 km and 2 h 05 to southern Seine-et-Marne against 1 h 34 by the usual route.
Stade de France on Friday night: the ride back is the hard part
Doors open at 5:15 pm and the youth vigil runs from 7:30 to 10:30 pm. The protection perimeter holds from 4 pm to midnight, the ban on traffic and parking until 1 am. When the vigil ends, cars still cannot come to the gates.
So plan the ride back before you go in: a pickup point outside the closed streets, a landmark both of you can find in a crowd, a fallback, and a walk. We will not promise a pickup at the gate. A car on call rather than back at a set time is hourly hire, not a transfer.
Luggage is the other trap. Suitcases and large bags are refused, only bags under 15 litres go in, and there is no left-luggage desk. If you land that afternoon, the hotel comes first.
Tuesday, September 29: a strike call on Fashion Week's second day

Three situations, and what we would do
You land at CDG or Orly on Friday
The Pope's own flight is due at Orly at 10 am; check yours with the airline. What decides your day is the address at the other end. Your chauffeur waits in arrivals with a name sign, the flight is tracked, and an airport transfer includes 60 minutes of waiting from the actual landing. Send the exact hotel address and entrance when you book, so the drop-off is settled before take-off, not at a police barrier.
Your hotel is inside a closed sector
Call reception first: which entrance stays open to vehicles, at what hours, with what proof of booking. Then tell us. If the street is closed, we meet on the nearest open street and you walk the rest. Heavy luggage, young children or reduced mobility change that point, so say so when you book.
You are coming back from the Stade de France
An agreed point and time, with margin after 10:30 pm. A transfer includes 15 minutes of waiting at an address, and after 9 pm the night rate applies.

The same transfer is €150 on an ordinary off-season day. September 21 to 27, the days before the shows, carry 15% on the base rate. Fashion Week, September 28 to October 6, carries 30%. Night rides, 9 pm to 6 am, add 10%, and the total is rounded up to the next 5 euros. A three-hour hire in an E-Class on the 29th comes to €335. The price is firm: calculated on the date and hour of the ride, shown before you pay, locked at confirmation. Traffic on the day does not move it. What changes it is a change you ask for: another address, an added stop, waiting beyond the included time, as set out in our service policy. Booking early does not lower the price; it secures the car.
What the booking checks for you, September 23 to 26
For a ride dated September 23 to 26, the booking flow on privatedrive.co compares your pickup and drop-off addresses, at the pickup and estimated arrival times, with the restrictions published for four sectors: Concorde and the Champs-Élysées, the Left Bank route, Notre-Dame with its quays and islands, and the Stade de France area.
When an address falls inside one, a panel appears at vehicle selection and again on the payment page, before you pay. It says whether the road is due to be closed, whether the sector needs checking or whether only parking is restricted, with the period and the official notice. In the first two cases online payment pauses and one button opens a prefilled request to our team, who can confirm an accessible meeting point. Your requested address is kept.
