Your train has arrived, but your transfer confirmation only says “Gare du Nord”. With several exits and large suitcases, that is not enough to find a driver. Before travelling, agree the meeting point, the vehicle capacity and the total price for your hotel address.
For arrivals from London, Eurostar explains that passport and luggage checks take place before boarding. Keep your travel documents available and follow staff instructions on arrival. This does not guarantee an immediate exit or remove any additional checks required by the authorities.
Find the right exit before leaving the hall
The official SNCF station plan for 2026 identifies exit 7 as “Cour des taxis”, on the rue de Maubeuge side. The rue de Dunkerque exits and main forecourt are different locations. Follow the current signs rather than a generic instruction to turn right after leaving your platform.
A pre-booked chauffeur may use another agreed, publicly accessible meeting point. Confirm the hall, exit or recognisable landmark in your booking instructions. If access restrictions change the location, contact the team before walking outside. The station plan also shows connections to Métro lines 4 and 5 and RER B and D.
Book a chauffeur with a usable confirmation
PrivateDrive arrivals from the station towards Paris start from €130 in an E-Class. This is a starting price for the arrival direction, not a fare for every address or date. Enter your hotel address, pickup date and time, passengers, luggage and options to obtain the total quote before payment. A different destination or vehicle requires its own quote.
Choose for both passengers and luggage: the number of seats does not guarantee space for every large suitcase. Include dimensions, child seats and a folded stroller where relevant, and have the configuration confirmed. The ground-transport checklist for executive assistants is useful when you are booking for someone else.
Give the train number, travel date, scheduled arrival and a reachable phone number. If the train is delayed or changed, contact the team to agree the pickup arrangements; do not rely on an automatic train update. At a station, 15 minutes of waiting are included from the agreed pickup time. Extra waiting, cancellation and rebooking follow the service policy; the separate no-show tolerance is not extra free waiting.
Ask for the name-sign arrangement and a contact method in the confirmation. If you cannot find the driver, use that contact rather than accepting another offer in the hall. Our Orly transfer comparison uses the same distinction between a booking price and practical meeting instructions.
Using the official taxi rank
Follow the signs to the taxi courtyard and use a licensed taxi with the “Taxi Parisien” roof sign. Queue length varies; this guide does not promise a particular wait or journey time. Tell the driver your destination and luggage requirements before boarding.
For a station-to-hotel journey within Paris, the fare normally follows the regulated meter. There is no general fixed “station to Paris” fare. However, a direct trip between Paris and CDG or Orly can fall under the regulated airport flat fare: starting at a station does not automatically exclude it. The DGCCRF taxi-fare guide explains the rules and authorised reservation supplements; a Parisian taxi cannot add a special station or luggage surcharge.
Compare equivalent journeys rather than an unverified taxi estimate and a confirmed chauffeur quote. Our Paris transfer pricing guide separates regulated airport fares from private-transfer offers.
Apps and public transport
A VTC can be booked through an application before pickup. Check the price, vehicle, luggage capacity and app meeting instructions; do not assume it uses the taxi rank or includes a name-sign welcome. The Ministry of the Economy explains prior booking and vehicle identification. An unsolicited approach in the station is not the same as your confirmed booking.
For a suitable journey within the region, the Métro-Train-RER ticket costs €2.55 at the full single-ticket fare in 2026. It excludes the airport rail journeys specified by Île-de-France Mobilités, including RER B to CDG and Métro 14 to Orly. Check the itinerary, accessibility and current disruptions before choosing this option with luggage.
Arrange additional assistance explicitly
If someone needs mobility assistance or help carrying luggage through the station, describe the need before booking. A car transfer does not automatically include a separate greeter, porter, wheelchair service or access to the carriage. Confirm what can be provided and arrange any rail assistance through the operator's official process.
For a corporate transport booking, agree the passenger contact, any additional assistance and billing requirements in writing. Availability and access permission must be confirmed; a premium train ticket alone does not authorise a chauffeur to meet at the wagon.
Leave enough time for a train to London
Eurostar currently recommends arriving at Paris Gare du Nord 75 to 90 minutes before departure in Standard or Plus, and 45 to 60 minutes in Premier. Check the latest recommended time on your ticket. Ticket-gate closure is a different deadline, not the time to aim for.
Work backwards from that station-arrival requirement, then add the estimated road journey and a traffic margin. Have the hotel pickup time agreed explicitly; entering a train departure time does not guarantee an automatically safe schedule. For an onward flight, use the airline's arrival requirement as well as the road transfer estimate; our CDG terminal guide helps identify the correct destination.
Paris-to-station departures are quoted separately. Request the price for your own address, date, time and vehicle; do not reuse the arrival starting price for the reverse journey.
Keep the details you will need on arrival
Save the agreed meeting instructions and contact details before travelling. A booking reference and a precise landmark are more useful in a busy hall than a general promise of a seamless arrival. When your journey details are ready, request a station-transfer quote and check the route, luggage and pickup time together.
